COCKATIEL LIFE PET BASICS FAQs BABIES ARTICLE ARTICLES LIBRARY

The diet of a bird should never be changed until the bird has had a physical exam and check-up, and been given a clean bill of health. If a bird is harboring sub-clinical disease, the stress of changing the diet (especially from seeds to pellets) may precipitate a health crisis. Some birds will not eat a new diet, and may actually begin to starve to death, and if a breeder is not closely monitoring birds during the change, some losses may actually occur.

ABOUT US_ My name is Judy Brumley, Dan and I live in La Paz, Indiana.
We
share our home with cockatiels.
We are located about 16 miles south of South Bend,
just 1 block off U.S. 31.
I am a member and Indiana State Coordinator for the National Cockatiel Society since 2002. Contact me by telephone:
(574) 784-2082 or e-mail:  djbrumley@embarqmail.com.

PURPOSE
_ My website is dedicated to the basic characteristics and care of cockatiels. I have a collection of Articles, FAQ and websites to help you research.  I strongly believe everyone should learn about any type of animal specie they consider keeping.

COCKATIEL EXPERIENCE_ I've owned and raised cockatiels since 1998. Since 2005 I am concentrating on breeding "Top Bench" show cockatiels.
When I started breeding cockatiels I was a Hobby Breeder/Exhibitor,  now I'm more a Hobby Exhibitor/ Breeder.
I take great pride in watching the progress of my aviary produce beautiful cockatiels as I strive to advance to the status of a Top Breeder/ Exhibitor.
All that breeding won't make my cockatiels any sweeter than anybody else's cockatiels,  but it goes with my hobby more than when I started with cockatiels in 1999. In the end, "Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder".

PRIORITY_ Nutritionally well-fed and cared for cockatiels have to be a breeder's number one priority.  Health assurance is a huge advantage when it comes to purchasing a pet or an animal for breeding plans.  Thankfully, people are anxious to purchase an animal raised in the best conditions.

WEANED BABIES_ will be $75.00.
We have the common mutations, they are bred for size, while having elegant deportment.

Health AGREEMENT_
I believe that all my cockatiels are healthy and are not carriers of significant disease or viruses.

It is the buyers responsibility to QUARANTINE the new bird for minimum of 30 to 45 days in a different airspace when you have another cockatiel or other bird/s at home. A new cockatiel will not be immune to pathogens that your established birds may be immune to. Likewise, your bird/s will experience some stress with a newcomer. Wash your hands really good after handling each bird. Feed, water and clean, etc. the new bird last. It is the standard precaution to protect the health of both birds. I can't be held responsible for birds other than my own.

Hi Judy!
I hope you and Dan are well, it has been quite a while since I emailed
you, but, I was thinking of you today....because.......

Today is Cricket's Birthday! He is a happy and healthy four year old! I
just wanted to tell you again how much I love this blessed little
creature, and am thankful every day that he is in my life! You are a
very dear friend and I do think of you often.

He is such a blessing, especially now that my husband and I are truly
empty nesters. Our children are both married now and we have a 16 month
old grandson, Nathan, a joy!

Let me know how you are doing.  Thank you again and take care, Mary Evans

"I recently had the great good fortune to be offered some of Judith Brumley' s excellent breeding stock at a price even I could afford. I know I could perhaps buy well-bred show stock from other fine breeders, but definitely none of HER quality at an affordable price. Like so many other novices, I have worked for years with the best birds my circumstances would allow and have achieved some small success--I was very proud of my "homebred" show team and could have continued developing that line indefinitely and happily.....but I knew in my heart that they would likely never carry me into the intermediate ranks, much less the advanced. When Judith offered a very good friend of mine some superb show birds from Carl Helton's & Keith Jennings' studs, we both jumped at the rare opportunity to purchase them. Judith COULD have set the prices much higher as some "named breeders/exhibitors" normally do, but instead she asked very fair and reasonable prices for them.
She sent pictures and pedigrees for me to see before I made up my mind.  As soon as I realized I was going to buy them, it radically changed the whole plan for my breeding operation, giving me a huge "leg-up" in the quality of my show stock. I have NO doubts that if I breed them successfully and responsibly, I will have no excuses to not make it through novice and intermediate into advanced.
Thanks to Judith, I have the quality of cockatiels which can make that possible.
When they arrived, I was stunned at how much more amazing both were--the pictures Judith had provided did not do them justice. They were in perfect feather, clean and strong and healthy and superb in every way.
I am beyond "pleased" with my purchase from Judith Brumley, and I not only hope to purchase MORE birds from her in the future, I would recommend her to any prospective buyer without hesitation."

I just picked up my beautiful birds from Judy yesterday afternoon and to say I couldn't be happier is an understatement!! I can't stop looking at them! This whole experience with Judy has been fantastic from the start and I am so thankful to find an ethical, honest breeder of high quality birds that truly cares not only for my needs as a buyer but also for the best interests of the birds she is selling. It's obvious that with her it isn't about the money and her birds are not inventory to her. It is clear that she loves her cockatiels and they come first. That was something that was really important to me as an animal lover. I would gladly buy from her again and actually I hope I have the opportunity to in the future!
